BOARDS & COMMISSIONS Board of Revision: The County Auditor serves, as well as acts as secretary on this board along with the Treasurer and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Taxpayers who feel their property values are too high have an opportunity to file a complaint with the Auditor and are able to appeal to the board for property value reduction. Budget Commission: The County Auditor serves on this committee with the Treasurer and Prosecutor and also serves as Secretary. The Budget Commission meets with all taxing districts, such as schools, cities, townships and villages to establish and approve spending levels. The Commission also projects the revenue for the county and submits those results to the County Commissioners. Based on the Budget Commission figures, the County Commissioners allocate those monies to the various county offices for their operating expenses. Data Processing Board: The County Auditor is one of nine members serving on this board and also serves as Secretary. The board determines the necessary computer needs for the county and it’s various departments. The board approves or disapproves requests from various departments on the purchase of hardware and software packages. This board serves as the major control over computerization of departments and must insure that tax dollars are spent wisely to meet major computerization goals for the entire county. Records Commission Board: As a member the Auditor serves as secretary in rotation. Other members serving are; Chairperson of Commissioners, Clerk of Courts, Recorder and Prosecutor. This board oversees retention schedule process for information in each office/department for record destruction approval. Safety Committee: Members include all county departments and is headed up by the Director of CTS. This is for safety concerns in each and every office and building, regarding fire extinguishers/work&storage area inspections, evacuation plans, floor maps including work and injury reports in addition to Work's Compensation claims. Tax Incentive Review Council: The Auditor is a statutory member of a council appointed by the legislative authority of a county, township, or municipal corporation that grants an exemption from taxation for abatements, enterprise zones for tax increment financing. Annually the Tax Incentive Review Council shall review all agreements of existing exemptions for these areas. |
